NERSCPowering Scientific Discovery for 50 Years

Large Scale Computing and Storage Requirements for Nuclear Physics: Target 2014

May 26-27, 2011

Hyatt Regency Bethesda
One Bethesda Metro Center (7400 Wisconsin Ave)
Bethesda, Maryland, USA 20814

Final Report

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science, Office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research (ASCR), Office of Nuclear Physics (NP), and the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC)

Goals

This workshop is being organized by the Department of Energy's Office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research,  the Office of Nuclear Physics (NP), and NERSC to elucidate computing requirements for nuclear physics research at NERSC. These requirements will serve as input to NERSC and ASCR planning processes for systems and support, and will help ensure that NERSC continues to provide world-class support for scientific discovery to DOE scientists and their collaborators.

The tangible outcome of the workshop will be a report that includes NP computing, storage, data, analysis, and support requirements along with a supporting, science-based narrative.

Registration

The workshop is by invitation only. There is no registration fee; however, attendees must respond to their e-mail invitation. The Group Registration Deadline for the hotel is May 4, 2011.  An official letter of invitation is available (PDF).

Workshop Agenda

The workshop begins with overview talks by NP and NERSC. The majority of the meeting will consist of case study discussions led by invited NP researchers. Read More »
